Palletised cartons give unitised handling but consume pallet and clearance space. Floor loading can improve cube but adds individual handling and unloading work. Choose across the whole route, not from container fill alone.
Map the handoffs
| Stage | Palletised | Floor loaded |
|---|---|---|
| Origin | Pallet pattern/equipment | Safe carton stacking |
| Transit | Restraint and pallet integrity | Stack support, void and door area |
| Destination | Forklift, pallet size and rack fit | Crew, dock time, sorting and re-palletising |
Test the final pack
Use production-weight rolls, boxes, dividers, cartons and the intended stack height. After the test inspect bottom cartons, cutter boxes, cores, roll edges, telescoping, unwind and labels. A carton that looks acceptable can still contain damaged rolls.
Keep evidence by load position
Photograph container condition, loading stages, SKU zones, restraint, door area, seal and arrival before unloading. Confirm the receiver accepts the method in writing. The carton/loading check supplies the inspection fields; the exact pack must be confirmed for the chosen commercial roll.
