Use cling film when the pack is formed by pull, wrap, overlap or fold. Use shrink film when material is placed around the product and intentionally reduced with heat. A request for a “tight clear wrap” does not identify either process.
Identify the physical action
| Input | Cling route | Shrink route |
|---|---|---|
| Equipment | Hand dispenser or overwrap station | Sealer and controlled heat source/tunnel |
| Pack formation | Cling, stretch, overlap and folds | Seal plus designed shrink response |
| Trial output | Cut, wrap, hold and use result | Seal/shrink window, distortion and pack result |
Write the RFQ subject first
Use “food cling overwrap” or “heat-shrink packaging,” then attach the machine model, package dimensions, food-contact surfaces, time/temperature, roll geometry and acceptance defects. If the task is pallet stabilisation, stop and use the food film versus pallet film check.
Compare system cost
For cling film, calculate cost per accepted cover. For shrink film, include sealing/heating equipment, energy, speed and rejects. YIYUAN's commercial roll page is relevant only after the process has been identified as cling or overwrap.
