Build food container compliance documentation by product, component and destination market. The useful question is whether the supplied tray, lid, coating and intended use are supported by the applicable evidence. A general “food-grade” statement or a laboratory result for another product is not enough to answer it.
This is a procurement document-control guide, not a universal laboratory test prescription. Confirm the applicable requirements for the actual finished pack with the responsible specialist before release.
Record the full pack and intended use
Identify the tray code, lid code, component materials, manufacturing site, drawing revision and any coating, liner, adhesive or print relevant to food contact. Describe the food types, contact duration, filling and storage conditions, plus any proposed heating instructions.
A PP base with a PET lid needs component-specific review. Plastic, aluminum and fiber constructions also cannot automatically share one declaration or one test program.

Use a destination-specific evidence matrix
| Destination or requirement | Request and review | Release question |
|---|---|---|
| United States | Applicable authorization basis, material identity, limitations and supplier assurance for intended use | Are the relevant substances and use conditions supported? |
| European Union plastics | Applicable declaration of compliance and supporting information for the identified construction | Does the scope cover the product and intended use under current measures? |
| Other destination markets | Applicable local material rules, labeling and importer document requirements | Has the responsible local assessor confirmed the actual requirements? |
| Customer-specific approval | Retailer or food-service specification, sample approval and additional requested evidence | Does this exact pack meet the customer requirement? |
The FDA regulatory-status guidance explains that food-contact authorization depends on substances and their conditions of use, including manufacturer-specific limits for an effective FCN. Do not treat an “FDA certificate” as blanket approval of every finished container.
For EU plastic materials, the European Commission legislation guide explains Regulation (EU) No 10/2011, declarations and supporting documentation. Other constructions may require different measures; do not apply a plastic-only checklist to an aluminum tray without considering its coating and lid.
Map YIYUAN’s available files to the requested container
Use the PP product catalog with the container range to identify the intended 500/750/1,000 ml box or compartment format. For foil, model 220 has an identifiable 1,000 ml, 215 × 160 × 55 mm reference in the foil model catalog. These files provide selection and packing information; request the selected container and closure’s applicable food-contact documentation for the destination and use.
The published PE inspection report and PVC inspection report concern submitted cling-film samples. They cannot populate the compliance-evidence row for a PP, PET or aluminum container. Likewise, references to FDA, LFGB, ISO or RoHS in a product catalog are not themselves the relevant authorization, current certificate or container test record. Ask for the actual document and review its issuer, covered product, conditions and status.
Read reports for scope before results
- Does the issuer and document number match a verifiable original?
- Does the sample description identify the supplied component or justified product grouping?
- Do the tested food categories, time and temperature reflect the proposed use?
- What restrictions, exclusions or unresolved substances remain?
- Do formulation or process changes require further review?
Testing conditions and acceptance criteria should be selected for the application and relevant requirements. There is no single temperature or migration limit that can be copied across all materials and markets.
Keep food-contact and environmental evidence separate
A recycled-content verification, compostability certificate or recycling symbol answers a different question. For recycled-plastic food-contact construction, request the relevant process and product evidence as well. Likewise, a quality-system certificate describes the system within its scope; it does not establish every product use claim.
Release only after the gaps are resolved
For each matrix row, record the document, version, reviewer, accepted scope, open gap and responsible owner. Hold the affected SKU if essential evidence is missing. Store the accepted sample and signed specification with the file.
Review the matrix when the supplier, material construction, site, intended use or applicable rules change. The public YIYUAN cling film report is not container evidence; request documentation for the quoted container and lid combination.
Prepare the next supplier discussion
Define the ordered pack first using container sample approval checks. Send the exact container/lid or foil model, food conditions and destination to YIYUAN when requesting product-specific compliance documentation.
